Why Brighton Acupuncture?

Ancient wisdom meets modern science.
Acupuncture is an ancient practice that has been around for thousands of years. While the health problems faced by the population have evolved, acupuncture has stood the test of time. It is a safe and effective option that is now backed up by a good body of clinical research. It’s popularity is growing as people look for alternatives to medications that often come with a host of unwanted side effects. It is now recommended by NICE and the NHS for several different conditions.

What can acupuncture help?

Fertility acupuncture

Whether you’re looking to conceive naturally or planning a round of IVF, acupuncture can help to regulate hormones, manage stress and encourage blood flow to the uterus.

Acupuncture for anxiety

There is now a good body of evidence to show that acupuncture is effective in helping people experiencing anxiety, so much so that it is recommended by Anxiety UK as an effective treatment option.

Insomnia Acupuncture

We now know that without good sleep our hormones are affected, our mood, creativity, energy levels and even our immunity. Studies have shown acupuncture can help with both duration and quality of sleep.

How does acupuncture work?

Studies have demonstrated that acupuncture has a direct effect on the central nervous system. In the brain, acupuncture has been shown to decrease activity in structures associated with stress and illness while improving the regulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis, the primary system that the body uses for regulating hormones and the physiological stress response. Additionally, acupuncture modulates parasympathetic activity, the branch of the nervous system associated with rest, relaxation, digestion and tissue healing. The analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of acupuncture are thought to stem from it’s regulation of the bodies own opioids and endorphins.
