If conception takes longer than expected it can be hard to know where to turn. There is a lot of conflicting advice online and help from conventional doctors can be limited. Acupuncture and ART/IVF
 
Acupuncture can be very helpful for couples planning a round of IVF or ICSI. It is recommended to start a few months ahead of the cycle to prepare the body in advance. Tam offers IVF preparation treatments, acupuncture for medicated cycles, acupuncture for frozen cycles, embryo transfer treatments and acupuncture for the two week wait. Many clients see benefits of treatment and decide to continue into their pregnancy.
 
Fertility acupuncture research
 
There is a good body of research into acupuncture for fertility. Studies have found acupuncture to have a significant treatment effect in improving the birth rates of sub-fertile women undergoing IVF or ICSI. An overview from 2009 up to 2017 also found that acupuncture given at the time of egg collection and embryo transfer improved clinical pregnancy rates. Another study also found that traditional acupuncture was an effective strategy to alleviate stress and anxiety experienced by sub-fertile women.
